A frac tank is a steel storage tank used to hold water, typically used for fracing wells in the oil and gas industry. A frac tank may also be used to store any liquids like run-off water, diesel fuel, glycol, oils, or waste products. In the oilfields, the material is held in a frac tank and connected by a hose or pipeline to a pump that will flow it down the wellbore at a high pressure to push open the formation.
Oilfield frac tanks come in many shapes and sizes but some of the more common sizes and names include 21,000-gallon tanks for on-site storage of fluids, 18,100 gallon, 400BBL, 6,900 gallon, 4,900 gallon, 2,400 gallon, 630 gallon and so forth.
Many companies operating in cold climates have problems with frac water and pipelines freezing. A revolutionary new product has been engineered by the folks at Powerblanket specifically for insulating and frac tank freeze protection. They have offices in both Canada and the US.
